Introduction to the PDQ Connect Agent (Windows/macOS)

Because PDQ Connect provides agent‑based device management, each device must have the PDQ Connect agent installed before it can be managed. The agent is responsible for securely enrolling the device into your Connect environment and enabling management capabilities.

PDQ Connect Agent Overview

The PDQ Connect agent can be downloaded from the Devices page in PDQ Connect. Any member of a PDQ Connect organization or tenant can download the appropriate agent installer. Once the agent has been installed, Connect users can view information about that device, push packages to the device, run scripts and take other actions in accordance with their assigned roles

Note: The parent organization and each of its child tenants all have a unique agent installer. The organization or tenant where the agent was downloaded from determines the placement of the device during enrollment.

The PDQ Connect Agent is designed to run silently in the background on a computer, in most instances users of a device do not even know its there. The agent is lightweight, with limited computing occurring through the agent to ensure memory usage is kept to a minimum. Users of PDQ Connect have reported no performance impact on devices that have the agent installed.

Keeping the Agent Up to Date

The PDQ Connect Agent is self-updating and will update as new versions of the agent come available. This self-updating functionality cannot be disabled and is needed to ensure device security.
