Package Library
Introduction to the Package Library
The PDQ Package Library helps IT administrators stay secure and up to date by providing ready-to-deploy packages for the most popular third-party applications. Instead of manually creating or updating packages, administrators get the latest versions automatically.
Vendors like Microsoft, Google, and Adobe release frequent updates to critical business apps. Keeping up can be time-consuming and easy to miss. The Package Library takes this burden off your plate: as new versions are released, PDQ publishes updated packages directly to your console, so you can patch with confidence and focus on more strategic work.

Navigating the Package Library
Pre-built packages in the Package Library will have PDQ displayed in the Source column in the Packages page. They are also listed under PDQ packages in the left navigation pane, where they are organized into category folders for easier navigation.
Viewing Package Versions
Select a package from the Package Library to list the previously available versions of the package.
Deploying or duplicating a Package Library package
In the right column of the Package Library page, you can click the three vertical dots (kebab menu) and select either of the following options.
Deploy a package
To deploy a package, click the kebab menu next to that package and select Deploy.
In the Create deployment pop-up, the selected package will be preselected, and you can select one or more devices for deployment.
If a single OS version of the package is available, then that OS icon and version will display alongside the app.
If multiple OS versions (Windows and macOS) are available for the package, then a Mixed versions button will appear. You can click on this button to view the specific versions that are preselected for each OS version.
The default behavior is to keep both OS versions selected, but you may uncheck a version if it is not needed.
By design, packages will only deploy to devices with a matching operating system. If you select multiple devices with a mix of operating systems, the correct OS version of the package will be deployed to the device based on its OS.
Duplicate a package
Any package, whether PDQ-managed or custom, can be duplicated in any of the following ways:
-
Duplicate the latest:
- From the Package page, click the three vertical dots (kebab) menu and select Duplicate.
- Browse to a specific package, and click the Duplicate latest button
- If you use either of these methods on a package with multiple OS versions available, a package copy will be created in your environment which includes the latest version of each OS-specific package.
-
Duplicate a specific (single-OS) package version:
- Browse to a specific package version, click the three vertical dots (kebab menu), and click Duplicate.
The Duplicate package flow will appear. Select a folder to add the package to, and click Duplicate.
The process will take a few minutes, after which you will receive a notification, or you can browse to the package folder to locate the package copy.
The default name will be the same as the package that was duplicated, with an incremental numeral in parenthesis:
If you create a copy of a Package Library package, you can modify it however you prefer, but it will not receive updates if the original package is updated by PDQ in the future.
If your objective is to perform a pre-installation step before running a library package, you can do this by creating a Custom Package with a Script step followed by a Nested step, which will run the latest version of a selected package.
