We've done some research and apparently this has been an ongoing issue over the years with Google Chrome installers. The simplest explanation is that when running child installation process, a timing even can occur where the child event returns the msi installer version instead of the true application version. Description: The PSWindowsUpdate packages have undergone a major rewrite:
We've fixed the NuGet Package Provider bug, where it required you to run the script twice on new machines.
If there are any existing WSUS/Windows policies in place, we'll back them up and then restore them after running the PSWindowsUpdate module.
We fixed a bug where the PSWindowsUpdate module would detect available updates, but then incorrectly report that there were no applicable patches.
We fixed a bug in the PSWindowsUpdates PowerShell scanner that is used in PDQ Inventory that would return additional blank entries in the results. These should now be removed.
IMPORTANT: For PDQ inventory users, we strongly recommend deleting any PSWindowsUpdate PowerShell scanners and PSWindowsUpdate Reports, then download the latest PSWindowsUpdate - Get All Applicable Updates from Microsoft (Audit Only) package and import the newer PSWindowsUpdate PowerShell Scanner, scan all machines, then import the latest PSWindowsUpdate Report. Please refer to this guide for more information.

General Announcement
According to the results of our latest customer feedback survey, The majority of our customers are interested in combination packages 32/64bit packages as opposed to separate 32bit and 64bit packages. Historically, we offered 32-bit packages for both 32-bit and 64-bit OS mostly for compatibility reasons. We've found as 64-bit packaging has matured, compatibility is not really an issue anymore.
Additionally, the majority of our customers are now wanting applications to automatically update. So when possible (and it's not prompting or disrupting the user), we are enabling automatic updates in applications and you'll see this change going forward when new versions of applications are released.

Description: Some customers have reported that when using built-in windows update tool or 3rd-party auditing, there are potentially 2-3 KB Numbers that can be shown as installed or missing on a system with respect to the latest .NET cumulative update applied. The reason for this is Microsoft offers a "Parent" KB that references a "Child" KB update for .NET 4.8 AND another "Child" KB update for .NET 4.8.1. Previously our Inventory collections only evaluated the system for if the respective 4.8 OR 4.8.1 "Child" KB was installed. We've expanded the collections to now include looking for the existence of the latest "Parent" KB being installed, which can also indicate that the .NET cumulative update is the latest.

We’ve had requests for .NET updates over the last 6 years. The biggest problem was trying to narrow down which packages we’re most needed. (A simple search for .NET Framework in the Microsoft catalog returns over 1000 individual packages!) Description: Doing an audit/overhaul on our .NET Runtime packages. Please expect the following changes:
- The existing Microsoft .NET Framework package will be renamed to Microsoft .NET Framework 4.8 to more easily identify the version.
- A new separate package Microsoft .NET Framework 4.8.1 will be created
- For better naming consistency, the existing Microsoft Windows Desktop Runtime 6 package will be renamed to Microsoft .NET Framework 6. (The desktop runtime includes the corresponding .NET runtime)
- A new package Microsoft .NET Framework 7 will be created. (The desktop runtime includes the corresponding .NET runtime)
- Inventory Collections for .NET versions will be updated to reflect the .NET 6 name as well as new collections will be added for the .NET 7 runtime.

Description: We've made a change to the folder/file structure of the Package Library. The folder paths for packages have changed:
From: Repository\Publisher\Software
To: Repository\Software
We had vendor folders that had names like Andrea Vacondio (PDFSam), Antibody Software (WizTree), Giorgio Tani (PeaZip), etc. that didn't line up with the software package name and if you didn't know it by memory, it made it difficult to know which folder to navigate to access a specific software package. We have a Windows folder as an exception for Cumulative Updates, but our goal was to remove a layer of folder complexity with the hope of providing greater simplicity, consistency, and transparency for the Package Library Repository. Additionally, when downloading some files, they had random strings of numbers and characters in the filename, depending on the software. We've adopted the following file naming:
SoftwareName\Version\SoftwareName_Architecture_Version.Extension
For example, the Chrome Package would have the following folder paths and filenames:
$Repo\Chrome\113.0.5672.64\Chrome_32bit_113.0.5672.64.msi
$Repo\Chrome\113.0.5672.64\Chrome_32bit_113.0.5672.64.msi
The majority of our customers should be unaffected by this structure change as it happens automatically when downloading new files from the Package Library.
