How to Reset Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)

Overview

Multi-factor authentication (MFA) is a security measure which can be configured for individual PDQ users, or required by your admin for all users across your organization within PDQ. A user may experience the need to reset MFA due to the loss of a login device or an authenticator app, and this article will walk through how to perform this reset via the portal.

In order to complete an MFA reset, you will need an owner or administrator who can currently log into the portal for your PDQ organization(s) and approve your MFA reset request. If you belong to multiple organizations, an owner or admin for each organization will need to approve your request before it can be completed. For account security reasons, you cannot approve your own MFA reset request.

If you are the only admin in your organization, then a non-admin member of your organization can approve your MFA reset request.
For the most secure configuration, you should add at least one additional admin to your organization, and ensure that this person is available to approve your MFA reset request.

Reset MFA during login

  1. Log into the PDQ billing portal at https://portal.pdq.com/.
  2. Enter your email address and click Continue
  3. Proceed through the login flow. When you reach the One last step... page and you are prompted to complete your MFA, click Reset MFA Configuration

If you receive a screen that says MFA Reset Suspended, this indicates that you are connected to at least one organization without anyone else available to approve your MFA reset request. If you receive this message, then you must contact support to regain access to your account.

  4. An owner or administrator of your organization (or another member, if no other admin is available) will need to approve your MFA reset request, which they can do on the Team page, at https://portal.pdq.com/team
  5. After your MFA reset request is approved, then you can retry login. You will be prompted to set MFA back up again, using the approved option(s) that are configured within your organization. Proceed through the setup flow for MFA for your preferred method, and then you can complete login.
