Installing the PDQ Connect agent for macOS
macOS features are currently in Early Access, available to all PDQ Connect accounts.
Downloading the PDQ Connect Agent Installer
From the Devices page, click Install Agent at the bottom of the devices list.
Manual Installation
1. Click "Install Agent" and select "Download macOS Installer". This will download the macOS agent installer.
2. In the "macOS Installer" modal, copy the registration token. This will need to be entered on the device when running the installer.
3. On the target device, double-click the installer named like PDQConnectAgent-5.6.23.pkg to run it.
4. Click "Continue" through the install wizard screens.
5. When prompted, enter the administrator password for the device.
6. You will be prompted to enter the registration token. Enter the token copied in step #2.
7. The agent will finish installing.
*Note: The PDQ Connect macOS agent is signed by the Apple Developer "White Room Projects LLC". This belongs to PDQ. You may see a notification on macOS devices indicating that software from White Room Projects LLC was installed.
Command Line Installation
*Note: Command line installation is a less secure method of agent installation. The package installer is recommended. On modern versions of macOS, end-users will receive a warning when pasting scripts into Terminal.
1. Click "Install Agent" and select "Copy macOS Installation Script". This will automatically copy the installation script to your clipboard.
2. You will be shown a modal to optionally inspect the script.
3. Open Terminal.app on the target Mac.
4. Paste the script into Terminal and run it.
5. When prompted, enter the administrator password for the Mac.
6. The install should start and complete shortly after. The registration token is included in the script, so it does not need to be entered separately.
7. The install should be complete.
