Introduction to the PDQ Assistant
The PDQ Assistant brings purpose-built AI capabilities directly into the workflows IT teams already handle in PDQ Connect today. It can help you research, diagnose, and resolve device issues, understand failed deployments, create and manage packages, and take approved action across your environment. With this update, IT teams can now use the PDQ Assistant to help them directly work with devices.
Common use cases include:
- Advanced Troubleshooting: The PDQ Assistant can perform live system diagnostics on devices, making troubleshooting as simple as asking the PDQ Assistant things like "Check recent system errors" or "Why is this computer running slow?". The PDQ Assistant automatically writes the relevant scripts to collect and analyze device specific data in real-time to help IT teams better understand device issues.
- Deep Inventory Information: Get more familiar with the current state of a device by asking the PDQ Assistant questions about the inventory information. Make requests like "tell me about this device" or "tell me about software that was recently installed". Or, ask the PDQ Assistant to do a health-check to proactively identify issues.
- Perform Actions: The PDQ Assistant can do more than simply return information - use the PDQ Assistant to deploy applications, create custom packages, create & run commands, and more.
Using the PDQ Assistant on Devices
To start using the PDQ Assistant, open any device and click the "Assistant" icon at the top of the page. This will open a side-bar where the PDQ Assistant can be accessed. Once the Assistant opens, sysadmins can ask the Assistant questions about the current device that is open on the screen.
The PDQ Assistant uses existing inventory information about the device to help evaluate the device against any requests made by the sysadmin. If additional device information is required to perform the request, the PDQ Assistant can write the required command to get additional device information. If a command is required to fulfill a request, the PDQ Assistant writes the command and presents it to the Sysadmin prior to running it to ensure the Sysadmin is in control.
Early Access Release
The PDQ Assistant is launching in early access and will be available at no additional cost during the early access period, which we currently expect to run through the end of the year.
Managing PDQ Assistant Access
For organizations that are not able or ready to use AI device management capabilities, this and other AI features can be disabled. To disable this feature, an Administrator user on the PDQ Connect account can go to Settings > AI tools and disable the Assistant feature.
