10/12/2026 — Device Attributes

PDQ Connect has three new built-in, customizable fields for Location, Department, and Device Type called Device Attributes. These fields are available to help you organize your devices around the realities of your org. For example:

  • you may have a specific team member assigned to support a specific office location
  • you may have Helpdesk team members managing laptops but not servers
  • you may have a policy about some software being available to a particular department but not others

Device attributes are purpose-built to help you organize around each of these cases and more. To get started applying these to your devices, go to Settings > Device Attributes. Add the values that apply to your org to each category:

If you’d like, you have the option to set a default value for new devices. This will automatically label all new devices with this attribute. Set defaults using the 3-dot menu next to any attribute.

Next, go to any device. You’ll find device attributes as an editable field just below Name & Host Name. Click the pencil to edit:

To assign Device Attributes in bulk, go to the device list. Select the devices you’d like to include, and in the Action menu choose Assign Device Attributes:

Once your devices are labeled with attributes, you’re ready to go. Today, you can use them to create groups and target automations. Soon, you’ll be able to apply policies and role-based access control (RBAC) for devices.
